The business magnet is trying to hire an AI expert who recently left Alphabet, Google’s parent company.

Elon Musk is working on a “new research lab to develop an alternative to ChatGPT,” OpenAI’s chatbot, which he co-founded earlier and later “cut ties” with.

The tech billionaire has reached out to AI researchers in recent weeks to develop a ChatGPT “alternative,” The Information, a technology news website, reported on Monday, citing sources close to the matter.

Another week, another AI chatbot.

This week Snapchat launched My AI, a customised version of OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Elon Musk signalled his intentions to build one.

Artificial intelligence (AI) writing technology underpinned by large language models are certainly impressive. And they are creating a great deal of anxiety among writers, academics and people concerned about intellectual property rights.

The war is on. 😃

Elon Musk has approached AI researchers in recent weeks about forming a new research lab to develop an alternative to OpenAI ‘s ChatGPT, the Information reported on Monday, citing people with direct knowledge of the effort.

Tesla and Twitter chief Musk has been recruiting Igor Babuschkin, a researcher who recently left Alphabet’s DeepMind AI unit, the report said.

The report comes after ChatGPT, a text-based chatbot developed by OpenAI that can draft prose, poetry or even computer code on command, gained widespread attention in Silicon Valley.

Amid the continuing layoffs at Twitter, Elon Musk may have zeroed in on its new CEO — Steve Davis who is a long-time associate of Musk and currently the CEO of The Boring Company.

The Boring Company is an infrastructure and tunnel construction services company founded by Musk.

According to Platformer, Davis came to Twitter as part of Musk’s transition team last year.

However, these ones are different to the several thousand Starlink satellites that are already circling Earth.

That’s because they sport a more modern and powerful design that gives them four times the capacity for serving customers compared to the original design, SpaceX said. So, yes, it means faster internet speeds for customers.

SpaceX chief Elon Musk confirmed the successful deployment of the new satellites in a tweet.

Electric-car maker Tesla Inc. plans to build a manufacturing plant in the northern Mexican industrial hub of Monterrey, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said Tuesday.

Mr. López Obrador, who spoke several times in recent days with Tesla Chief Executive Elon Musk, added at his morning press conference that details of the investment would be made known Wednesday.

“This past week, we completed a difficult organizational overhaul focused on improving future execution, using as much feedback as we could gather from the entire company,” Musk wrote. “Those who remain are highly regarded by those around them.”

The short memo, titled “Performance Awards,” is Musk’s first communication to Twitter employees since he laid off hundreds more of them, including several senior loyalists and nearly all of the product team without warning over the weekend. (Platformer’s Zoë Schiffer first tweeted about the memo.)

After several rounds of cuts and demanding that employees be “extremely hardcore,” Musk hasn’t yet shared details about how he will make up for the stock awards that went away when he took Twitter private. In previous internal comments, he has alluded to the system he set up at SpaceX to let employees regularly sell the company’s stock to interested investors. Given Twitter’s distressed financial situation relative to SpaceX, it’s unclear what the appetite for its stock will be in the short term.
